Discover the story behind the Howard Christensen Nature Center in this archival video feature.

In this look back at the origins and mission of the Howard Christensen Nature Center, we explore how this cherished local oasis was established to provide a vital connection to the outdoors. Even as an older production, the message remains more relevant than ever: in an increasingly digital and indoor-focused world, the need to step outside, engage our senses, and foster a direct, hands-on relationship with nature is essential.

From the history of the property and the heart behind its founding to the transformative field trips that continue to spark wonder in students today, this video highlights why preserving such spaces is so important. You’ll also get a glimpse into the spirit of community stewardship—including past volunteer projects that helped restore our springs and trails to ensure the center remains a welcoming space for all.

Join us in celebrating the enduring beauty of our local habitat and the timeless joy of hands-on environmental discovery.
