The community gathered in Downtown Muskegon for the annual Community Holiday Tree Lighting in Hackley Park, which officially kicked off the "Holidays in the City" season! This year's celebration took place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, with family fun beginning at 4:00 PM and the highly anticipated tree lighting ceremony occurring around 6:00 PM.
The evening was packed with festive attractions for all ages. Visitors enjoyed holiday-themed train rides through the park and stopped by the Letters to Santa Station to drop off their wish lists. After the magnificent tree was lit, attendees enjoyed a special appearance and meet-and-greet with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The event provided classic winter treats: attendees warmed up with FREE cocoa (courtesy of First Wesleyan Church) and enjoyed FREE cookies (donated by All Shores Wesleyan), alongside favorite local food vendors like Hamburger Mikey and Happy Matt's Kettle Corn.
The holiday magic continued well after the ceremony! The spectacular lights and decorations, including a new singing tree display, illuminated Hackley Park nightly from dusk until 11:00 PM, remaining on display through January 4, 2026. The Hackley Park Tree Lighting served as a fantastic cornerstone of the broader "Holidays in the City" experience, which also featured downtown winter window displays, holiday shopping, and the county-wide Light Up the Lakeshore contest.
