Reeths-Puffer High School Graduation 2025

The Sixty-Seventh Annual Commencement of the Reeths-Puffer High School, Muskegon, Michigan. Tuesday, June 3^rd, 2025.

A Brief History of Reeths-Puffer

In the early 1900s, Mr. Charles Reeths, a dedicated community member who highly valued education, was raising his 11 children in the north side schools, primarily the Baxter School on M-120. In 1903 the children attending Baxter School were moved to a new building on the corner of North Getty and East Giles roads. This new building was named Reeths School in honor of Charles for his service on the school board and love for education. The Reeths School stood on that corner until 2003 when it was razed to make improvements to our current R-P Elementary.

Mr. Hiram Puffer was born and raised in New York and began teaching school for his children and neighbor children in his home. He moved to Muskegon County and later donated land to build the first school in the 1870s. He personally furnished the materials, completed all the work and taught school when the building was complete. The Puffer School, located on the corner of East River and Sheridan Roads, became the first educating facility in the area. In approximately 1925, the original building was replaced by the present brick building. Puffer School has now been remodeled into an attractive two-family housing structure.
