Christina, the Marketing Director at the Muskegon Museum of Art, didn't always know design would be her path. Originally an architecture student, she discovered her creative talents flourished beyond building blueprints. A supportive professor saw her potential and encouraged her to explore other avenues. So, she pivoted, embraced her passion for design, and earned a graphic design degree.

Her journey wasn't linear. After graduating, she took on various roles, from print production to social media, but yearned for more creative autonomy. Networking events and freelance work for small businesses became her stepping stones. Building her portfolio while connecting with the community proved invaluable.

At the museum, Christina uses her design skills to craft inviting experiences, drawing people in and breaking down the intimidating aura art museums can have. Her biggest challenge? Public misconception about graphic design and criticism of her work. But she counters it with patience, hard work, and the belief that "being a good human" goes a long way.

Giving back is at the core of Christina's values. Inspired by those who believed in her when she didn't believe in herself, she volunteers, teaches college classes, and actively engages with the community. It's her way of saying thank you and paying it forward.

Her advice for students? Follow your passions, embrace detours, and build confidence. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and learn from criticism. With a little self-belief and a lot of hard work, anything is possible.

Christina's story is one of passion, resilience, and community spirit. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best detours lead you exactly where you're meant to be.
