Through Senior Millage funding The Muskegon Community College Lakeshore Fitness Center is able to offer services to out Muskegon County residents at no cost.

The Muskegon YMCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a healthy future for Muskegon through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Since 1871, the Muskegon community has supported and entrusted the YMCA to deliver lasting personal and social change through programs. Part of the largest non-profit in the country, the Muskegon YMCA is committed to helping people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. Through the Muskegon County Senior Millage, the Muskegon YMCA provides three services: health promotion classes, the LIVESTRONG program, and the Veggie Van, a mobile farmers market.

MUSKEGON COMMUNTIY COLLEGE LAKESHORE FITNESS CENTER

Through Senior Millage funding we are able to offer services to out Muskegon County residents at no cost. One of those services being our 8 week fitness program called Next Steps, which consists of 10 programs participants can choose to enroll into. Next Steps is designed to support you as you improve your level of physical activity with the help of our degreed and certified Fitness Specialists. When on enrolls into Next Steps they will receive assessments at the beginning and end of the program that will track their progress. They also receive an individualized exercise plan with measurable goals from the Fitness Specialists. While individuals are enrolled in the Next Steps program, they have full access of the facility and its amenities. We offer 89 group exercise classes a week, ranging from gentle yoga to cardio strength interval training and they would have free access to all of them. Another service offered at our facility by AgeWell through Senior Millage funding is our aquatic group exercise class Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. This class helps individuals increase their strength and stamina while keeping it low impact and in the water. It is a great way to stay active or a great start to becoming active with a healthier lifestyle.
